“What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.” Carl Sagan (via fully-booked)

“When one reads books, he/she starts living it and identifies (or not) with main hero. These print ads for the Mint Vinetu bookstore, which sells lots of classics, focuses on the idea of becoming someone else. And provokes people to try on different personas.”
What an incredibly innovative marketing campaign that promotes such a wonderful message. I grew up with my nose in books; and living vicariously through the characters in those novels. I traveled without having to step outside my house; I shed tears for people I will never meet; I have fallen in love more than a handful of times for the handsome protagonist; and I have expanded my imagination beyond the real world. I am and will always be a true believer in the sheer power of books.
