F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Great Gatsby
It never ceases to amaze me how people see downloading pirated copyright protected material is ok. Be it movies, books or music…it is not one bit different from going into a store and lifting it from the shelves.
If you don’t think that’s ok, then don’t do it online either.
And if you do think it’s ok…well, you suck.
This article cheeses me particularly because the #1 pirated book at the moment is The Help by Kathryn Stockett, who, granted, has had great success. But she’s a really nice person and just because she’s a bestseller doesn’t mean you’d break into her home and steal her silverware and think it’s ok. It’s the same thing people.
“When one reads books, he/she starts living it and identifies (or not) with main hero. These print ads for the Mint Vinetu bookstore, which sells lots of classics, focuses on the idea of becoming someone else. And provokes people to try on different personas.”
What an incredibly innovative marketing campaign that promotes such a wonderful message. I grew up with my nose in books; and living vicariously through the characters in those novels. I traveled without having to step outside my house; I shed tears for people I will never meet; I have fallen in love more than a handful of times for the handsome protagonist; and I have expanded my imagination beyond the real world. I am and will always be a true believer in the sheer power of books.
